Lessening Separation Anxiety

In September, I will be leaving for Japan for a three and a half month stint to study Japanese. I will be leaving behind four cats - three of whom really adore me. Even though I am leaving them with their other mommy, I am still fretful that she may have to deal with their separation anxiety the for at least the first couple weeks.

I already plan to send them video with my voice attached from Japan so they can at least hear me every know and again.

Do any of you have any suggestions on how I can make this transition a little easier for my furbabies?

This is tricky, and I'm not sure there is an easy answer. The video thing sounds nice, but then again my own cat never seems to react to hearing a recording of my voice. I think it's great that their other mommy is still there, and that's all that really matters in the end. In my experience, cats easily adapt to someone else taking care of them, and while my own kitty seems to miss me when I'm away (she won't eat properly for the first day or two), she always seems to be fine with the situation soon enough. And she's got separation anxiety too. So don't worry too much about it. :)
