Help with a kitty bed

siliconsaraHello! I've bought my new kitty a cat bed just now. (had her a few months from a shelter) I've got a few questions for the more cat-savvy than me.
1. Are there good places to put a cat bed? Bad places?
2. Is there any way to make the bed more appealing so she will more likely use it?
3. Would using a cat-nip/feliway spray encourage her to use it? Haven't been able to find feliway, anyway, heh.
Any help would be awesome! Thank you. :)
ETA 05/30/09: I put the bed onto the seat of one of my dining room chairs and I just now realized she's using it right this minute! *squee* She looks so cute and comfortable in there. =) Thanks everyone.
